Carrie Fisher, 'Star Wars' Icon & Author, Dies At 60

“Star Wars” icon Carrie Fisher died Tuesday morning at the age of 60, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

A rep for the actress and writer told Access “with very deep sadness” in a statement that the “beloved” Fisher passed away at 8:55 AM PT.

“She was loved by the world and will be missed profoundly,” the statement read. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Sources previously told NBC News that Fisher suffered a heart attack on Friday aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles. Her brother, Todd Fisher, told the Associated Press later that day she was “out of emergency” and being treated in an intensive care unit.

Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, tweeted on Christmas Day that Fisher was in stable condition and thanked fans for their “prayers & good wishes.”
