Celebrity Engagement Rings: Gemstones Takes Center Stage

Green emerald engagement diamond ring

There is never a shortage of “Bling” in the celebrity world but some celebrities are adding a lot extra these days. Colorful gemstones are the latest craze in the way of engagement rings and the celebrities are over the top with sapphires, emeralds and rubies, Oh My!

Jenny Slate & Ben Shattuck

How could you not say yes to the romantic Ben Shattuck? I mean, he only proposed to her in an abandoned castle in southern France. Shattuck is an artist, writer and curator at his mother’s gallery in Westport, Massachusetts.

Slates ring is a 2-carat ring featuring a deep blue oval-cut sapphire center stone. These stones are becoming increasingly popular and the shapes, such as the elongated cushion cut, create a flattering look by elongating the wearer’s finger. Slate rocks the sapphire and we love it.

Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom

Perry and Bloom announced their engagement via Instagram on Valentine’s Day by showing off the massive Edwardian Era inspired ring and it was a jaw dropping photo to say the least.

The ring features a 3.5-carat center ruby with clusters of round-set diamonds surrounding it. With the ruby and diamonds, the ring comes in at a whopping 4-carats. Well done, Orlando.

Susan Kelechi Watson & Jaime Lincoln Smith

Susan will not have to look for something blue for her wedding because it’s already on her finger. The “This Is Us” actress is engaged to boyfriend Jaime Lincoln Smith. She told E News that she named her ring Marina because her then boyfriend took her to Marina Del Ray as part of the proposal day.

Watson’s engagement ring is a stunning 3-carat oval sapphire set on a delicate diamond-accented band in platinum. It is estimated at approximately $10,000 to $20,000.

Elizabeth Olsen & Robbie Arnett

We are seeing green, literally! You can’t help but be mesmerized with Olsen’s stunning emerald engagement ring her longtime boyfriend, musician, Robbie Arnett placed on her finger.

The emerald itself is a square cut, 4-carat dazzler and is surrounded by a halo of diamond baguettes and set on a thin yellow-gold band. It is estimated to be between $200,000 to $250,000. It is definitely a show stopper.

Princess Eugenie & Jack Brooksbank

Being a royal has its perks especially when it comes to precious jewels. Princess Eugenie flaunts a rare gemstone that her now husband Jack Brooksbank chose for her, but proposed without it. The Princess had to “sign off” on the stone.

Padparadscha sapphires are typically found in Sri Lanka and are one of the rarest colors of sapphire. Princess Eugenie’s sapphire displays a stunning pinkish orange color and is roughly 3-carats with a vintage inspired diamond halo and a mixed yellow and white gold band. It is estimated at around $25,000 to $45,000.

Katharine McPhee & David Foster

Canadian composer, David Foster popped the question to actress and singer Kathatrine McPhee at the top of a mountain in Anacapri, Italy under dark, starry skies. Isn’t that romantic? Good thing she said yes because she came down from the mountain with some major bling.

The ring is a giant emerald-cut with a halo of diamonds and is set on a split-shank pave band and weighs approximately 5-carats. This sparkler is estimated to be between $100,000 to $150,000.

When it comes to class and style, celebrities do it well. Thankfully, you don’t have to be celebrity status to have an amazing ring. If you are looking for that perfect ring that has just the right bling, consider James Allen. If you want to be unique, customize your ring with an amazing, sparkling gemstone and stand out from the crowd.
